MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Workers in Louisiana can expect to see an increase in jobs statewide, according to a 2024 report by the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC).
The LWC’s report projects a 4% growth in employment by 2032.
Included in the report are details about projected job growth in the healthcare industry.
More than 300,000 Louisianians were employed in the healthcare field in 2023. By 2032, the number of people employed by ambulatory healthcare service providers is expected to reach more than 10,194.
Louisianians can expect to see more opportunities for skilled trade jobs like welding, construction, plumbing, technology and more, according to the LWC’s report.
“As a part of this growth, the Louisiana Workforce Board 83 has been hosting roundtable conversations to prepare people for these jobs. We brought in community stakeholders, and business and industry officials to talk about what can we do. We want to prepare them to have to secure high wage paying jobs to provide security for their families,” said Terri Mitchell, executive director of the Workforce Development Board 83.
As employment in Louisiana grows, officials said they anticipate the childcare industry to grow as well.
