Tennessee football suffered a tough road loss to Arkansas on Saturday, which resulted in a field storming at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
However, it appears things got worse the following morning after the loss. Omari Thomas, a Tennessee defensive lineman, has come under fire after a video surfaced of what looks like No. 21 for the Vols pushing a male fan into a female fan following the Razorbacks‘ 19-14 win over No. 4 Tennessee. The push resulted in both fans falling to the ground.
The Tenneessee football players appear headed back to their locker room, which requires walking in front of the Arkansas student section.
The Southeastern Conference usually fines schools for field stormings, as it could be dangerous for fans and players as everyone spills onto the field. Still, it is a special moment for college football fans and students to celebrate a big win. However, Saturday’s scene is exactly what the conference wants to avoid with fans on the field.
In 2022, a video surfaced of then-Alabama receiver Jermaine Burton appearing to smack a woman after the Vols defeated Alabama and stormed the field that season. Burton was not suspended for his actions at the time.
On Sunday evening, Thomas apologized on his personal X account (formerly Twitter), apologizing for his actions during the field storming.
“I apologize for my actions during the chaotic postgame scene. Even though we got run into multiple times by fans while trying to exit the field, that doesn’t condone my actions or define my character. I sincerely apologize. I wish Arkansas and their fans all the best. Big 0”
