TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A local high school football player is in the running for the Sports Illustrated national high school football Play of the Year for 2024, and you can cast a vote to support him.
Damien Harrington, of Waite High School, is a contender for the 2024 Play of the Year for his performance in a game against Bowsher in which he palms an incredible one-handed interception. You can watch the play in the BCSN video embedded at the end of this story.
The catch won a national Play of the Week award earlier this year. Sports Illustrated staff picked top 10 Plays of the Week from high school football games in August through early November, then took the 11 weekly winners along with the runner-up with the most votes to curate the list Harrington is now part of.
Voting is open now and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18. You can vote in the poll at the link here.
Our partners at BCSN report Harrington is a Sophomore at Waite and a team captain.
