GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – New Year’s resolutions often crowd gyms, as many are optimistic about getting in shape. One local fitness facility says as the new year comes around, expect to see a busier gym, because it happens every year.
One personal trainer at Crossroad Fitness says people are getting a head start on those new year’s resolutions.
“Our numbers have gone up a little early,” said Katie Brady.
But with January right around the corner, this is a trend they are expecting to continue. Every year, Crossroads downtown welcomes the influx of new members.
“This isn’t our first rodeo… it happens every year, so we’re ready…It’s something we are always ready for every year in regards to membership,” said Patrick Goldsworthy, Crossroads Fitness Manager.
But with so much built up excitement in the beginning, eventually it slows down and fluctuates throughout the year. But as Brady mentions, those who sign up for personal training tend to stay longer than those who do not.
“Normal members that join the gym come January, they have a harder time sticking around,” she said.
Crossroads faculty tells us there are ways to achieve these new years resolutions and stay motivated. They suggest working out with friends, making realistic goals, and keeping a consistent routine.
But most importantly, pay good attention to the way you feel. “Don’t pay too much attention to scale, see how your clothes fit, and how you are feeling about everything,” said Goldsworthy.
