The Philadelphia Eagles (8-2) are traveling west to take on the Los Angeles Rams (5-5) in a battle for positioning in the NFC. These two teams have met 44 times in their histories, with the Eagles holding a 22-18-1 regular season lead (including winning seven of the last eight meetings) while the Rams have a 2-1 advantage in the playoffs.
The Eagles are flying into L.A. on a six-game win streak (tied for the second-longest current win streak in the NFL behind the Detroit Lions’ eight-game streak) behind an offense that has sparked of late. Saquan Barkley is reminding everyone how bad the Giants’ front office is and is leading the NFL in rushing yards per game (113.7) with an impressive 10 all-purpose touchdowns. Not to be outdone, quarterback Jalen Hurts has 11 rushing touchdowns in the season, with nine of them coming during the Eagles’ streak.
The Rams’ defense should give the Eagles some problems in this game. Not only are they performing well against the run, but they’re also bringing the pressure of late, something Hurts has been shaky with in recent games. But if the Rams are going to win this game, it’ll be on the arm of Matthew Stafford. With Stafford outfitted with a full complement of receivers again, how they perform against a stout Eagles’ secondary will likely be the difference in this game.
Betting line and pick for the game
The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are slightly favoring Philadelphia in this game with the betting line being set at Eagles -2.5 points. This should be a highly entertaining game and Lions fans will want to be tuning into this game, as it will likely impact the NFC Playoffs.
Prediction: Eagles 31-28
