LIV Golf’s latest acquisition was underwhelming.
At least that is the verdict from golf fans on X, who blasted the fact LIV teased three signings for Kevin Na’s Iron Heads over the weekend, only to announce on Monday that Jinichiro Kozuma will retain his spot in the quartet for the 2025 campaign.
Kozuma earned his spot in the lucrative, Saudi-backed league at their Promotions event 12 months ago and finished 44th in the standings.
Na’s Iron Heads were simply dreadful, finishing last out of 13 teams and only securing nine points.
Describing Kozuma as ‘Mr Clutch’, the official Iron Heads X feed posted: “Iron Heads GC is thrilled to announce the re-signing of Jinichiro Kozuma for the 2025 LIV Golf Season! Welcome back, Jini.”
The Iron Heads will reportedly unveil two more signings in the coming days and it is expected that former PGA Tour pro Danny Lee will also retain his place.
Golf fans weren’t convinced retaining Kozuma’s services was newsworthy, with one blasting: “The jokes write themselves.”
“Love Jini but not convinced this re-signing a player, who finished 44th on the 2024 LIV Standings, ticks the ‘Big Signings’ box.
“Seriously, who?”
“I could beat half these guys.”
“This such huge news, I mean this will be the lead story on ESPN now, right?”
“S–. This is gonna break the PGA Tour’s back.”
“Huge signing, LFG!”
“This moves zero needle for anyone. Unless Iron Heads can sign some players of significance, LIV needs to consider moving on from this team cuz they aren’t helping the league advance.”
At the time of writing, LIV Golf are yet to unveil any fresh faces for the 2025 season that begins next February in Riyadh.
It was also reported that LIV were in advanced negotiations with former Masters champion Adam Scott and Belgium’s Thomas Detry.
Such a move for Scott does seem unlikely, given his role on the PGA Tour’s policy board.
Detry is a 31-year-old golfer from Belgium.
He is yet to taste victory on the PGA Tour, although he has won a team DP World Tour event alongside the aforementioned Pieters.

His replacement has not been named yet.
Norman told WishTV that he will always be involved with LIV in some capacity.
He added: “In the first couple years, everybody was lambasting us.
“And now all of a sudden, everybody’s trying to follow us.
“And I think everybody should take a step back and say, ‘Oh my gosh. How good has this been for the game of golf?'”
