WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WVVA) – The first round of the LIV Golf Greenbrier tournament took place on Friday.
What started off as a beautiful day at the golf course turned into wet and rainy quickly.
The shotgun start commenced at 1:15 PM, with play being delayed just thirty-five minutes later due to inclement weather in the area with a heavy downpour of rain that altered the playing conditions.
After an hour and twenty minutes of waiting, it was time to play some golf again!
The rest of the day turned out to be great conditions for golfing, the sun popped through the clouds and the rain washed away, the players where able to finish their round.
The day ended with three different players tied at the top spot on the leaderboard in Sebastian Munoz, Jason Kokrak, and Talor Gooch all at seven under.
For Kokrak and Gooch, that was not the only board they led on as their team “Smash GC” sat above the rest in the team category of the tournament with a score of 20 under through day one.
Weather pushed forward the start of day two, what was supposed to originally be a 1:15 PM start time, was made a 11:15 AM start time.
WVVA Sports will have continued coverage of both days two and three on Saturday and Sunday.
