GULFPORT, Mississippi — The Little Rock women’s golf team upset Utah Valley in Monday afternoon’s round of the Great River Cup match play tournament. Despite falling just short against Arkansas State in their opening match, the Trojans will compete for fifth place against Middle Tennessee State University on Tuesday.
Little Rock, the No. 4 seed in the eight-team event, fell to No. 5 seed Arkansas State in a 4-1 match. However, the Trojans bounced back with a dominant performance, defeating No. 8 seed Utah Valley 33.5-1.5 to close out match play on Day 1.
In the opening round, Fehild Graesel was the only Trojan to win her individual matchup. In the second round against Utah Valley, Katja Mueller, Anna Dawson, and Eleanore Aernouts secured victories, while Graesel finished with a tie to close out the day’s match play events.
