MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula County Commissioners caught a glimpse of Larchmont Golf Courses future, and it may involve a price increase.
Monday’s meeting allowed commissioners to review where the golf course is at and where it’s going.
The course transitioned to full county management one year ago.
The suggestion for rate increases came from the national Golf Foundation.
The potential higher prices could lead to a better product.
“We are pretty undervalued for the product that we have,” said Larchmont general manager Rick Spurgeon. “We have a tremendous golf course with tremendous conditions, and we are way under what everybody else charges.”
A decision on whether to increase rates takes place next Tuesday.
The meeting also touched on the challenges Larchmont faces for finding replacement trees after the devastating storm earlier this year. According to Spurgeon, 80% of the 170 trees that were ripped out at the golf course were non-essential and this could lead to healthier greens in the future.
