AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Lakeside boys golf claimed the top of the podium at the 6A state championship in May.
Now, five months later, they now have their rings.
The team was celebrated ahead of the Panther’s football game against Greenbrier.
“You can always talk about being a state championship, but this is actually the proof, and it kind of set the boys, you know, tone of like, Hey, we are state champions. They will always be called state champions from here on” said Head Coach Justin Crawford.
Lakeside golf has five state championships in golf claiming: 1999, 2006, 2007, 2010 and now 2024.
The Panthers won state with a total team finish of +16 ( 592) four strokes ahead of Roswell. Hamilton Coleman finished as the individual champion at five under par.
“There’s been a lot of anticipation with this, because we’ve been waiting since, you know, we won state last year, but it’s definitely cool. They came out really well,” said Coleman.
