Cornucopian and Coal Battle, the fifth and sixth choices in Las Vegas odds for Kentucky Derby 2025, both worked Wednesday morning.
Coal Battle breezed the half-mile in 49.4 seconds at Oaklawn, third fastest of 18 works at the distance. It was the first work for the Coal Front colt since his win in the Grade 2 Rebel on Feb. 23. Trained by Lonnie Briley, Coal Battle has won four starts in a row and leads the Kentucky Derby standings with 70 points.
Coal Battle was at 16-1 in Las Vegas futures Wednesday morning.
Cornucopian, winner of his Feb. 23 debut in a six-furlong maiden special weight on the Rebel undercard, went four furlongs in 49.8 seconds for trainer Bob Baffert, eighth fastest of 19 at the distance. It was his first work since his victory.
The Into Mischief colt, purchased for $1.1 million as a yearling, was at 15-1 in Las Vegas odds on Wednesday.
