KSR Today: March is off to a rough start for Kentucky basketball
A big game arrived at Rupp Arena on Saturday afternoon when Bruce Pearl brought his No. 1 Auburn team to Lexington. Despite playing short-handed once again, there was much optimism with the home team.
That ended quickly.
Georgia Tech transfer Miles Kelly scored a season-high 30 points with 9-of-14 shooting from three-point range and Tigers forced 18 turnovers. Auburn turned a six-point game into a 15-point lead in the final segment before halftime and never looked back. Kentucky got outclassed and now sits at 19-10 (8-8) heading into the final week of the regular season.
The day got worse when Mark Pope revealed that starting guard Jaxson Robinson will miss the rest of the season in his postgame press conference.
The vibes aren’t great with LSU coming to town for Senior Day this week before a final road contest against Missouri on Saturday. Many in the Big Blue Nation are worried that the Cats could have a short run at the SEC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. This feels like a gut check moment for Pope’s staff.
KSR Today is taking a look back at the loss as we all get set for whatever comes next. This teams certainly isn’t boring but predicting what will happen with this group has become very difficult.

Kentucky WBB hits the road to face No. 6 South Carolina
Kenny Brooks and his first Kentucky women’s basketball team is fresh off a monster home win over No. 11 Tennessee. The Cats (22-5, 11-4) will now travel to Columbia to play the final game of the regular season before the SEC Tournament begins in a just a few short days in Greenville.
The Cats have locked up the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament but will be looking to record a big win for resume at Colonia Life Arena. Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks (26-3, 14-1) are tied with Texas for the top spot in the SEC.
KSR will have live in-game and postgame coverage for this monster matchup in the SEC. The game will be broadcast at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT on ESPN. Hopefully the broadcast truck in the Palmetto State can eliminate all fire threats.
More college basketball on Sunday
Saturday was an eventful day in college basketball. Tennessee and Ole Miss each needed some last second shots from three-point range to secure big home wins, Cooper Flagg avoided an injury disaster, and Vanderbilt pulled off another home upset.
We will have a full recap of the weekend later today at KSR along with where the SEC Tournament seeding sits with two games to play, but there are also some games on the docket today. Two big ones in the Big Ten stand above the rest.
