The Pacific Division is notoriously known for its long travel distances throughout the season and the Seattle Kraken will be experiencing it head-on during the 2024-25 season.
The Kraken will travel a total of 48,431 miles this season, third behind only the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers, who are also Pacific Division teams.
Unsurprisingly, the Metropolitan Division and the Atlantic Division teams fill the bottom of the list. Many of the teams are in close vicinity to each other making travel distances much shorter. The New Jersey Devils will travel the least at just 31,080 miles.
The Kraken will be travelling more than 8000 miles more than the league average of 40,382.
Each team plays each other but what differentiates is where teams play their road game against the other division in their conference and how many times they play there.
For example, the Kraken will travel to Nashville and Chicago twice this season to play road games instead of hosting them. Simple reasons like this add up and are the reason why the Kraken’s travel distance is so high.
