Boardman, OH-The Cleveland State women’s golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the 2024 fall season with a sixth-place team finish at 42-over par. Kaitlin Kormuth finished third in the individual standings, posting her third career top-five finish, with two of the three coming at this event. Host Youngstown State won the team tournament with a final score of 10-over par.
After finishing fourth at last year’s tournament, Kormuth improved in this year’s event finishing in third place, just one stroke behind YSU’s Valentina Pena Anaya and Neeranuch Prajunpanich who finished tied for medalist honors at 2-under par. Kormuth carded a final round 2-over 74 to finish with a two-day total of 1-under par 143. Kormuth made five birdies including three in her last five holes to finish the tournament in red figures. She and the two YSU co-medalists were the only players to finish under par for the event.
Mandie Ruminski improved in round two as she posted a 4-over 76. Ruminski finished with two birdies on the day and closed in a tie for 23rd place at 10-over par.
Brynna Mardis finished tied for 30th in the individual standings at 11-over par. Mardis finished with a 9-over 81 in the second round.
Kaylin Kline finished tied for 64th at 23-over and Chloe Holton finished tied for 67th at 24-over. Abby Blackburn, playing as an individual, finished tie for 49th with an 18-over par total.
Cleveland State returns to action on Monday, October 7 as the Vikings travel to Michigan for the Bronco Fall Classic hosted by Western Michigan.
