An Australia-based website that ranks the world’s best airlines in terms of safety and comfort — AirlineRatings.com — has recently awarded Korean Air as the Airline of the Year 2025. It has replaced Qatar Airlines in the number one position of the ranking list.
Qatar Airways shifted to second place, with Air New Zealand in third, followed by Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and Emirates.
Judging by the review forums where customers share their experience on different flights, the passengers have reported Korean Air to be their first choice mainly because of two things: the spacious seat with ample legroom, and the unique amenities.
Korean Air has allocated a more spacious seat pitch of 33 to 34 inches, compared to most other airlines, which have been known to allocate just 31–32 inches for their economy class seats. Airlines, including the former best — Qatar Airways — for the economy class, opt for 10 seats per row in a Boeing 777 aircraft. Whereas, Korean Air keeps only 9 seats per row, leaving ample room for each passenger to sit back comfortably and enjoy their flight with other amenities they offer.
Passengers on medium-to long-haul flights are also treated with thoughtful gestures including slippers, delicious food from an eclectic menu, and headsets to enjoy streaming.
Customers appreciate the generously spacious seats of Korean Air so much that it has remained the people’s choice for the past couple of months. Experts pointed out that Korean Air has high resources because of its recent merger with Asiana Airlines, another airline giant based in South Korea. This merger is known to be the largest in aviation history.
