Kindbridge and Mindway AI are partnering to combine technology to provide a responsible gambling product that uses AI detection tools to connect players with specialized care.
The product is expected to become readily available in 2025 and work with online casino and sports betting platforms.
“We’ve been working on this in the background for a while,” Kindbridge CEO and founder Daniel Umfleet told Speaking to iGB. “It’s probably been going on really for about 18 months.”
The AI detection tool introduced by Mindway AI will look at several areas to detect problem gambling behavior:
If the AI program detects problem gambling, it will flag it to operators and explain why the user has been flagged and is at risk. Operators can then choose to segment the user and deploy Kindbridge’s services, which focus on helping gambling-related mental health issues. Kindbridge works with several U.S. operators, including DraftKings, through its expanded program.
“What we are looking to get out of this long-term is validating that the risk scoring has a correlation with mental health-related issues,” Umfleet said. “Therefore there needs to be a continuous feedback loop with the risk scoring in the mental health side of the equation to ensure that there’s a direct bridge happening when somebody of a certain risk profile gets identified, they then get direct access to the right kind of resources.”
