From shoveling snow, baking sweets for the staff, to sweeping a broom, the kids at North Star Elementary in Virginia are busy each day with jobs.
The plan is to have each student put in about 400 minutes throughout the year.
It’s all part of their school goal, “Our School, Our Responsibility.”
“Everyone has a job to make the school more welcoming, cleaner, or safer,” principal Scott Manni explained. “100% of the credit for this goes to the North Star staff. It’s been a long standing tradition for Iron Range students to give back. We want to bring that tradition into the new building.”
North Star opened in September.
The plan is to celebrate at the end of the year, and have a job fair to figure out next year’s jobs.
