Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir set an NFL record with his first catch against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
He was injured on his second catch.
Shakir hauled in an 8-yard pass over the middle and he was brought down by Roquan Smith and David Ojabo in the first quarter. Shakir got to his feet but sat back down on the field and was evaluated by athletic trainers.
Shakir walked off the field slowly and was looked at by trainers on the bench. He had his right ankle taped and jogged on the sideline with trainers.
Shakir returned to the game early in the second quarter.
Earlier in the first quarter, Shakir caught the first pass thrown his way by Josh Allen. The reception gave him a catch on 28 straight targets dating back to last year, passing Michael Thomas’ streak of 27 in 2018 for the longest such streak in the NFL since the stat was tracked in 1991.
