Christian Academy’s Hunter Cantwell talks win over Manual
Christian Academy football handed the Manual Crimsons their first loss of the 2024 season after a 35-10 victory.
As of Friday morning, four high school football games involving Louisville-area schools — including the St. Xavier-Trinity showdown — are still scheduled to be played Friday night as the remnants of Hurricane Helene pass through Kentucky.
Schedule as of 9 a.m. Friday
* St. Xavier vs. Trinity, 8 p.m. at L&N Stadium
* North Oldham at Henry County, 7:30 p.m.
* Anderson County at South Oldham, 7:30 p.m.
* Spencer County at Western Hills, 7:30 p.m.
With Jefferson County Public Schools canceling classes on Friday, all Friday night games involving JCPS schools have been called off. There’s been no word on whether any of the following games will be rescheduled for a later date:
* Oldham County at Atherton
* Ballard at Tates Creek
* Butler at Southern
* Fort Knox vs. DuBois (at Ballard)
* Frankfort at Fairdale
* Trimble County at Iroquois
* Male at Pleasure Ridge Park

Caden Long and Parker Rudolph both rushed for two touchdowns to lead the host Bearcats (4-2) over the Hawks (0-6).
KCD rolled up 280 rushing yards behind Long (15 carries, 96 yards) and Rudolph (14 carries, 78 yards). Deion Davidson and Nic Doster also had touchdown runs for the Bearcats.
The Cardinals (3-3) outscored the host Titans 13-0 in the second half to secure a victory in Class 5A, District Five action.
Scott County rolled up 279 rushing yards and got rushing touchdowns from Ali Hamdiyah, Jackson Damron, Kayne Garrett and Timmy Emongo. The Cardinals also scored on a blocked punt return by Damron and an 82-yard kickoff return by Emongo.
Collins quarterback Kade Goodin completed 25 of 49 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns and was intercepted three times. Goodin also rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Logan Huelsman was Collins’ top receiver with seven catches for 72 yards. DaJari Hardy and Jason Hence had touchdown catches for the Titans (3-3).
Kadin Hanshaw rushed for three touchdowns to lead host Grayson County (5-1) over Bullitt Central (1-5) in a Class 5A, District Four battle.
Kolby Chaffins added a 1-yard touchdown run for Grayson County.
Bullitt Central’s A.J. Lee threw touchdown passes to Nate Tomes and Rylan Morris.
Saxton Howard rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Eagles (4-2) over the host Golden Eagles (0-6) in the Class 2A, District Four opener for both teams.
Lexington Christian also got touchdown runs from Bennett Gudalis, Daven Hood, Mac Darland and Carter Penix.
Shawnee managed just 39 yards of offense and committed three turnovers. Kyresse McAtee rushed for 20 yards on four carries.
Ransom Payton passed for 98 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for a score to lead the Generals (3-3) over the host Mustangs (2-3).
Payton had a 3-yard touchdown run with 4 seconds left in the first half and threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Grantz to give Lafayette a 16-6 lead with 11:03 remaining.
Javis Wallace returned the opening kickoff of the second half 98 yards for a touchdown to pull Moore within 9-6.
Moore managed just 84 yards of offense.
The Rockets (0-6) forfeited their Class 4A, District Four game against the host Flyers (5-0).
On Wednesday, Shelby County announced head coach Josh Jaggers had stepped down because of health reasons. Jaggers was in his first season as the Rockets coach.
George Eskridge has been named Shelby County’s interim head coach. Eskridge previously served as an assistant coach at Campbellsville University and with the Louisville Fire arena football squad.
A University of Louisville product, Eskridge also served as an assistant coach on the high school level at Eastern and North Hardin.
