Kentucky basketball: Mark Pope discusses loss to Alabama Crimson Tide
Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope discusses the Wildcats’ tough loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday at Rupp Arena.
Kentucky basketball will be without a key member of its rotation Saturday against Vanderbilt.
Fifth-year senior forward Andrew Carr, who has been in the lineup for all 18 of UK’s games this season, will not play versus the Commodores. The 6-foot-11, 235-pound Carr was listed as “out” on the SEC’s availability report, which posted at 12:30 p.m. ET Saturday, two hours before the Wildcats and Commodores were scheduled to tip off at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville.
Though he played through it, Carr recently has dealt with a nagging back injury. Earlier this week, UK coach Mark Pope said he hoped Carr would be closer to optimum health in time to take the court against the Commodores.
Instead, the Pennsylvania native will sit out for the first time since the 2024-25 campaign began.
Carr is averaging 10.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 27 minutes per game. He’s made 53.9% (69 for 128) of his shots from the field this season, the second-best mark on the team after center Amari Williams at 56.5% (65 of 115).
