College basketball freshmen who are making a case to be lottery picks
Here are 3 freshmen who are playing their way into becoming lottery picks for the 2025 NBA Draft.
LEXINGTON — Two-fifths of Kentucky basketball‘s starting lineup is missing for the second straight game.
Starting guards Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson were listed as “out” on the SEC’s availability report at 5 p.m. Wednesday, two hours before tipoff versus Vanderbilt at Rupp Arena. Both were sidelined during last weekend’s loss at Texas.
Butler reinjured his shoulder in the second half of last week’s win over Tennessee. He paces the Wildcats in assists (4.6) and steals (1.76) per game.
Robinson injured his wrist in a practice collision Feb. 7. Though he played the next day in a victory over South Carolina, Robinson sat out both games last week.
Prior to his injury, Robinson had appeared in all 23 of UK’s games in 2024-25. His 13.3 points per outing trails only fellow guard Otega Oweh, who averages 16 a game.
UK and Vanderbilt are slated to tip off at 7 p.m. today at Rupp Arena.
The contest between the Wildcats and Commodores will air on SEC Network. Roy Philpott (play-by-play) and Daymeon Fishback (analyst) will have the call.
