KELLEYS ISLAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Three women were flown to the hospital after a golf cart rollover crash Friday resulted in serious injury on Kelleys Island, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.
At around 6:46 p.m. 27-year-old Eleanor Austin of Clyde, 25-year-old Stela Francic and 21-year-old Brenda Mesa, both of Sandusky were traveling northbound on Division Street in a 2017 EZGO golf cart.
According to the release, the driver, Austin lost control of the golf cart and went off the right side of the road and rolled into nearby trees.
The impact caused all three women to be ejected from the golf cart, according to the OSHP.
Austin was seriously injured and was airlifted to Toledo St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Francic and Mesa were flown to Cleveland Metro Hospital for treatment.
Kelleys Island Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene along with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Cleveland Clinic Life Flights, Cleveland Metro Life Flight and Mercy Life Flight.
According to OSHP, the crash remains under investigation.
