The son of former first-round pick Pete Kendall, a guard who played 13 NFL seasons with the Seahawks, Cardinals, Jets, and Washington, Kendall is part of a center class that’s gotten a bit of an unfair reputation for being one of the weaknesses of the class. But most of the options higher on the board are converts, not true centers like Kendall.

A detailed preparer who played in a gap scheme at Boston College, Kendall also has athleticism derived from high school lacrosse to navigate blocks in space. That’s a perfect fit for what the Chargers want to do under Roman: gap runs and plenty of screens to tight ends. While he’s mostly been penciled in the later portion of Day 3, Kendall could be a surprising riser on draft day.
