Karkala police have made significant strides in curbing illegal activities by arresting 11 individuals for gambling inside an under-construction building located in front of the government hospital. The operation unfolded as authorities acted on a tip-off regarding the illicit activity in the area, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
Among those arrested are Manjunatha (30) from Kumta, Srinivas (50) from Moodaru, Muttanna (21) from Karkala, and Nagaraj Uppara (47), along with several others, including Lakshman Hema, Yamanurappa, Heman, and Mallayya.
During the raid, police seized a total of Rs 4,950 in cash from the suspects, highlighting the financial stakes involved in the gambling operation. A case has been registered at the Karkala town police station, and further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the gambling network.
This operation reflects the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the region and their ongoing efforts to combat illegal gambling activities that pose a threat to community safety.
