Preliminary estimates from the Kansas Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information Services (LMIS) division and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.5% in November, up from 3.4% in October and 2.6% in November 2023. Seasonally adjusted job estimates indicate an increase of 7,900 in total nonfarm payroll employment from October. This includes a rise of 7,100 private sector jobs and 800 government jobs.
Since November 2023, Kansas has added 19,100 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs, including 14,100 private sector jobs and 5,000 government jobs.
The December 2024 Labor Report will be released on Friday, January 24.
“Total nonfarm job estimates for Kansas rebounded in November following a temporary drop last month. The fluctuations were partially due to the impacts of strike activity in October,” said labor economist, Emilie Doerksen. “Over the last three months, Kansas has averaged 2,100 jobs added per month.”
