In 58 Super Bowls, there have been several teams earning back-to-back titles.
In the greatness of the 1960s Green Bay Packers, 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers, 1980s San Francisco 49ers, 1990s Dallas Cowboys or the New England Patriots of the 2000s, none of these teams have won three straight Super Bowls.
The Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, are on the threshold of a three-peat. The top-seeded Chiefs plowed through the regular season, going 15-2.
The Chiefs’ first playoff test will come from quarterback C.J. Stroud and the fourth-seeded Houston Texans (9-6) on Saturday.
The Chiefs beat the Texans, 27-19, on Dec. 21 as Mahomes passed for 260 yards and a touchdown. Stroud passed for 244 yards and two touchdowns, but was picked off twice by the Chiefs’ defense.
