Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina has overcome the starting barrier at the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Prague Open grass-court tournament in Prague (Czech Republic) with a prize pool of $267,082 thousand.
Kalinina, seeded No. 3 (No. 47 in the world rankings), defeated Czech Sara Bejlek (No. 126) to reach the second round of the competition – 7:5, 6:7 (9:11), 6:2, Ukrinform reports.
The match lasted three hours.
Kalinina will play for a ticket to the quarterfinals of the tournament against Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot (No. 145), who in turn forced the capitulation of Spanish Jessica Buzas Maneiro (No. 86) – 6-3, 6-4.
The Prague Open will end on July 26.
