BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was arrested after being found with a stolen golf cart, debit card, and three identification cards, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
38-year-old Joshua Steven Yates was charged with receiving more than $2,000 in stolen goods but less than $10,000 on Monday.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hampton Drive in Sangaree after receiving a report of a stolen golf cart. The stolen golf cart was pinging from the home on Hampton Dr.
When deputies knocked on the door, Yates ran from the back door, the sheriff’s office said. The homeowner permitted authorities to retrieve the stolen golf cart.
BCSO K9 Lalo was deployed and tracked Yates to a nearby backyard.
Deputies found him lying on the ground and took him into custody. After a probable cause search, deputies found the additional stolen identification cards and stolen debit card.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said Yates has been booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center 13 times since 2013.
