JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – The votes are in and it’s time to announce the K8 Sports Athletes of the Month for December 2024. You nominated 13 different athletes on kait8.com.

Boys Athlete of the Month: Jared Mitchell (Pocahontas football, basketball, track & field)

The December Boys Athlete of the Month is Jared Mitchell of Pocahontas. He’s a football, basketball, and track and field standout for the Redskins. Mitchell had key catches at wide receiver as Pocahontas reached the 2nd round of the state playoffs.

The sophomore guard landed on the Battle of the Border All-Tournament Team. Mitchell earned a all-conference nod in track this past season.

Girls Athlete of the Month: Lexi Gipson (Marmaduke basketball)

The November Girls Athlete of the Month is Lexi Gipson of Marmaduke. She’s filling up the box score this season for Lady Greyhound basketball. Gipson is averaging 9 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game. She’s recorded 6 double-doubles.
