HAMILTON, N.Y. – On the final day of the Alex Lagowitz Memorial at Seven Oaks Golf Club, Tynan Jones tied the lowest-scoring round of his collegiate career Sunday to finish tied for 19th during the Binghamton golf team’s first event of the 2024-25 season.
The senior shot 71/1-under par during the final round to move up 17 spots from the previous day and earn the second top 20 finish of his career. Jones shot a 75/3-over par on Saturday to put himself in a tie for 36th place entering the last day of competition. On Sunday, Jones picked up six birdies and seven pars to finish the weekend with 10 birdies and 15 pars respectively.
“It was a great round by Tynan today,” said Binghamton Head Coach Bernie Herceg. “A very consistent weekend for him. He’s played very good, and it’s great to see.”
The previous time Jones finished in the top 20 was at Binghamton’s home event, the 2023 Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational. The Skaneateles, N.Y., native finished tied for 17th while also shooting a 71/1-under par in the first round.
Overall, Binghamton finished tied for ninth as a team at 303-291 = 597/13-over par. Both Ryan Millevoi and Sean Shen ended the weekend tied for 29th at 75-73 = 148/4-over par, moving up seven spots on the final day.
The Bearcats’ next competition will be at the Howard/USF Intercollegiate. It will take place from Sept. 8-10 at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Md.
