January 19,2025-Emporia State’s Madeline Joiner won the individual championship in dominating fashion at the Florida Collegiate Classic on Sunday in Brooksville, Fla. She was one of three Hornets in the top ten.
Joiner was the only player to go under par over the 20 holes of the Olympus Disc Golf Course. She shot -6 to finish nine strokes in front of Lily Marr of Milligan and Zion White of TWU.
Atlanta Krueger, who entered the competition ranked #1 in the country, overcame a rough start to finish fourth at +4. She shot -3 over her final 15 holes. May Ringgold was in eighth place at +8 while Rebekah Thompson was right behind her at +9 for ninth place.
Grace Watson was tied for 13th at +15 and Avangelena Campbell shot +52 to finish in 16th place.
The Hornets will wrap up their stay at the Florida Collegiate Classic with the final round of team play on Monday. The Emporia State team of Krueger and Joiner have a seven stroke lead on Clemson and TWU Black heading into the final round.
