Superstar Joel Embiid is gearing up for what is hopefully the first Eastern Conference Finals appearance, or better, of his career.
The Philadelphia 76ers center clearly viewed physical health as a top priority this offseason, looking slim in a recent viral photo. The 76ers posted to X, formerly Twitter, a picture of Embiid with his son Arthur walking outside of their facility. The 30-year-old’s appearance left NBA fans stunned, as they are more than ever expecting a monster campaign from him.
“Jojo looks like he’s ready to win a ring,” one user wrote.
The Sixers’ surrounding cast is arguably at its peak with Embiid at the helm, largely due to the addition of veteran star Paul George. The hope is for George to alleviate pressure from him during the regular season, allowing him to enter the playoffs at full strength. The former Los Angeles Clippers forward, along with guard Tyrese Maxey, possess the talent to lead Philadelphia to a top seed.
“Joel Embiid is undoubtedly in the best shape of his life,” a fan wrote. “He has done a great job with nutrition over the past few seasons.”
Dealing with injuries has unfortunately been a major part of Embiid’s story in the league. He is yet to play 70 regular-season games in a year. Still, the seven-time All-Star is widely regarded as one of the world’s top players because of his dominance when available.
“He mad skinny [shocked emoji],” another posted.
One fan offered that the 2024 Paris Olympics likely played a role in his so-called improved conditioning and physique. “It’s helps that he played in meaningful basketball games during the summer for once.”
If Embiid remains healthy for the entirety of the season, it’s hard to imagine the Sixers falling well short of hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
