Three games through their season, the New York Jets have received no contributions from Haason Reddick, who continues to hold out. The Philadelphia Eagles can say the same thing about Bryce Huff, though at least he’s played.

Would a one-for-one trade eventually make sense? At least one of those edge rushers would welcome it, according to ESPN’s Jets beat writer Rich Cimini.

“Could (Huff) get traded back to the Jets? Let’s put it this way. A little birdie told me that Reddick I don’t think would be opposed to something like that,” Cimini said Sept. 25 on his “Flight Deck” podcast.

“I think Reddick is so frustrated with the Jets’ situation — and of course, he did request a trade in August — so frustrated, that he wouldn’t mind going back to Philadelphia. Again, heard it from a little birdie. Take it for what it’s worth. Could that trade happen? Reddick for Huff? Boy, that would be one of the more bizarre trades in NFL history.”

Huff signed in Philadelphia on a three-year, $51.1 million deal in March, ostensibly to replace Reddick, whom the Eagles eventually traded in April for a conditional third-round pick because of his contract demands, which have only escalated in New York with a trade request. Reddick, who has 58 career sacks, is in the last season of a three-year, $45 million deal.

Huff, 26, has not been a fit in Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s scheme with only one tackle on 44% of the defensive snaps.

Reddick’s holdout has been costly to his wallet; he is losing about $800,000 per game and risks $21.75 million overall for the season, according to ESPN.

On Sept. 19, Reddick sent out a cryptic tweet that had fans excited about a resolution.

“God will always make a way [prayer hand emoji],” he wrote.

But more than a week later, Reddick appears no closer to returning to the field.
