Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh were both pumped up after the New York Jets opened up a 14-0 lead over the New England Patriots in the second quarter of their “Thursday Night Football” matchup.
However, it appeared that Rodgers thought his head coach was a bit too amped following Breece Hall‘s touchdown run.
Rodgers was happy to share a brief handshake with Saleh. But once his head coach went it for a hug, Rodgers appeared to push his coach away, as seen in a video captured by the Amazon Prime’s broadcast.
Rodgers followed his arm-bar with an icy stare at Saleh. That was the cherry-on-top of the most cringeworthy moment of TNF’s first half.
JETS VS. PATRIOTS: Updates, score, highlights for ‘Thursday Night Football’
It isn’t clear why Rodgers brushed his coach aside. He appeared to be upset and certainly said something to Saleh during the encounter.
Perhaps the 40-year-old quarterback was offering the coach some constructive criticism. Rodgers might also have just wanted to stay in the zone after a strong start to the game that saw him complete 12 of 14 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Either way, Rodgers and Saleh likely will be asked to address the confab after the game. Until then, NFL fans will be left to speculate what occurred during the most interesting five seconds of the first half.
