PEORIA, Ariz. – The Kansas women’s golf team is set to travel to Peoria, Arizona to compete in the Wisconsin Westbrook Invitational at Westbrook Village Vistas Course, Feb. 23-24.
Kansas won the event last year with a score of -43 for the program’s first team title since 2017.
“We are very excited to get to warm weather this week at Westbrook and defend our title from last year,” Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. “We have really good feelings and memories of last year, and the last three years, and are excited to play.”
Kansas takes part in a 14-team field that includes host Wisconsin, #35 UNLV, Penn State, Missouri, Colorado State, South Florida, Chattanooga, Washington State, Louisiana Monroe, Nebraska, Minnesota, Sam Houston and #30 Kansas State.
The 25th-ranked Jayhawks are coming off a sixth place finish at the PDI Intercollegiate after shooting the second-lowest team 54-hole score in school history with an 843. Senior Lauren Clark was also able to record her first collegiate win after firing the lowest 54-hole individual score in school history with a 201 (-15).
“The six we have competing have worked really hard on our wedges, short game, and putting the last couple of weeks after UCF to feel ready and prepared,” Kuhle added. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to play together to test our games and see our improvement one month into the season.”
Kuhle will travel with a lineup of seniors Clark, Lily Hirst and Johanna Ebner, junior Amy DeKock, and sophomore Lyla Louderbaugh. Freshman Ebba Nordstedt will also be traveling with the team and she will be competing as an individual.
The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Sunday, followed by 18 holes on Monday to conclude the event. Kansas will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT in a shotgun start format both Sunday and Monday.
