More details have emerged in former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler’s DUI arrest from earlier this week.
Poolice in Franklin, Tenn. — a suburb of Nashville — responded Thursday afternoon to a call after Cutler allegedly rear-ended the driver in front of him.
Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 not to call the police, acording to police documents reviewed by WGN,
Police said Cutler, 41, had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words during the encounter.
Cutler allegedly told police he had not consumed alcohol before later admitting to have had “a little bit.”
Police said Cutler refused a field sobriety test and later had his blood drawn for a test at the hospital.
Results of the blood test are pending.
Police added that Cutler had a rifle and a loaded glock in his vehicle.
In addition to DUI-first offense, Cutler is charged with failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and possession of a handgun-under the influence.
Cutler was released Thursday on $5,000 bond.
Cutler’s NFL career spanned from 2006-17.
He was a first-round pick of the Broncos and played in Denver for three seasons, making the Pro Bowl in 2008, before playing eight years with the Bears.
In 2017, he was lured out of the Fox Sports announce booth to join the Dolphins.
Cutler threw for more than 35,000 yards in his NFL career, with 227 touchdown passes and 160 interceptions.
He was previously married to former MTV star Kristin Cavallari.
