Jason Gillespie Calls Aaqib Javed “A Clown”, Alleges Plotting And Undermining Authority
Pakistan cricket coach saga keeps on giving more drama. Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has called current head coach Aaqib Javed ‘a clown’, and said that he undermined the authority of Gillespie and Gary Kirsten (who was coach before Gillespie).
He also blamed Javed for plotting behind the scenes to become the head coach of Pakistan’s men’s team.
Gillespie was responding to a post on his Instagram story where Javed was mentioned blaming the constant management changes as the reason for the poor performances of the Pakistan men’s team.
Earlier, the musical chair of Pakistan cricket saw newly appointed red-ball coach Jason Gillespie, who was given the added responsibility of leading the team even on their white-ball tour of Australia, will removed from his coaching job altogether.
The announcement, which could be made as early as November 18 (Monday) was a result of discussions in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after Gary Kirsten resigned from his role as the national team’s white-ball coach. They wanted Gillespie to take over as all-format coach, but without being paid extra for the same.
Aaqib Javed, who was appointed convenor of the men’s cricket selection committee earlier in October, became the board’s favourite as he was readily available to do the three-format job.
Javed received a lot of criticism after Pakistan’s unceremonious exit from the Champions Trophy where they failed to win a single game.
