Jannik Sinner has equalled Carlos Alcaraz’s record despite not even playing at the Rotterdam Open
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner look set to continue their dominance of the ATP Tour in 2025, having blown away their opponents last season.
Alcaraz has just won the Rotterdam Open, while Sinner picked up the first Grand Slam trophy of the year at the Australian Open.
The Spaniard beat Alex de Minaur to emerge victorious in Rotterdam, with the Italian defeating Alexander Zverev in Melbourne.
Alcaraz is now a 17-time ATP Tour champion, with four of those titles having come in 2024, when he won the French Open and Wimbledon.
Sinner meanwhile has 19 such titles to his name, eight of which came last season, including the Australian Open and US Open.

And following his latest success, the world number one decided against taking part in the Rotterdam Open.
Beaten finalist De Minaur has moved up to sixth in the ATP rankings following the event, with Sinner and Alcaraz remaining in first and third respectively.

The latest rankings now mean Sinner is into his 36th week as number one, which equals Alcaraz’s figure when he led the way, as per Eurosport.

Given his recent success on the court, Sinner has the luxury of skipping tournaments and remaining in pole position.
He remains in no threat whatsoever of dropping out of top spot, with Australian Open finalist and world number two Zverev having also not been involved in Rotterdam.

Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev both dropped a spot in the other top 10 moves this week, falling to seventh and eighth respectively.
Djokovic hit 1,000 weeks in the top 100 last month, but has slightly declined after also missing out on the latest ATP tournaments in Rotterdam and Dallas.

Sinner likely won’t have such a phenomenal record on his mind at this moment in time, with the Italian perhaps simply wanting to stay at the summit for as long as possible.
But the likes of Zverev and Alcaraz will certainly put up a fight in the coming months, particularly as the French Open approaches, with both having reached last year’s final.
