The next Jaguars Girls and Women in Sports Shadow cohort will kick off with applications opening today. Six female university students who have an interest in pursuing a career in sports and entertainment will have an opportunity to shadow Jaguars staff for a week in the summer. Selected candidates will experience the day-to-day operations of a professional sports team and understand various career paths that exist. Since the program’s inception in 2022, 20 students have participated and 80 percent of which have since had further experiences in sports-related fields.
Additionally, the Jaguars Foundation through its Jaguars PREP program is also a leader in the NFL through the development of girls flag football. The team supports NFL FLAG girls flag and travel teams; hosts events including Girls Flag Preseason Classic, Girls Flag College Showcase and USA Football Talent ID Camps; highlights Girls Flag Game of the Week, Coach of the Week and Player of the Week for areas high schools; and more. Additionally, the annual DREAM BIG Scholarship awards three $3,000 scholarships to female high school seniors participating in girls flag and/or tackle football who plan to pursue a higher education. More than 4,000 girls football athletes participate in PREP events annually.
