Jacob Parker of Seton Catholic boys golf is the The Columbian 2024 Week 7 high school athlete of the week sponsored by Killer Burger.
Parker received 368 of 918 votes to win the honor. The senior shot 5-under-par 139 for 36 holes to win his fourth straight 1A district championship.
Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week’s results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by 6 p.m. Monday for consideration.
Winners of the player-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.
Nominees are posted and voting begins each Tuesday and runs through Thursday.
Here are what the other Week 7 nominees accomplished:
MARLEE BUFFHAM, RIDGEFIELD GIRLS SOCCER: The senior scored four goals in three league wins for the Spudders.
MICAH NELSON, PRAIRIE BOYS TENNIS: The junior won four straight-set matches to capture the singles title at the 3A district tournament.
DEVYN THOMAS, HERITAGE BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: The senior won his second straight 3A district title, finishing in 16 minutes, 39 seconds.
DANIELA VAZQUEZ-GONZALEZ, EVERGREEN GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The junior won her second straight the 3A district title by 11 seconds, finishing in 20 minutes, 34 seconds.
