Jabrill Peppers claimed the story is different than what his alleged victim told police during his Saturday arrest.
The woman, his reported girlfriend, told police that the Patriots captain and former Giant got violent with her around 4 a.m. — putting his hands on her neck, slamming her head into the wall and then throwing her down stairs after receiving a phone call that he didn’t like while they were engaged in intercourse, according to a police report viewed by TMZ.
The 29-year-old NFL veteran is facing charges of assault, strangulation and possession of drugs in relation to the incident.
However, Peppers told authorities at the scene it never got that far — and that the woman had acted “erratic” and that she had been intoxicated.
He told police the woman “became enraged with him when he refused to have unprotected sex with her,” according to multiple reports.
“According to Jabrill,” authorities said in the police report, “[the woman] kept acting erratic and refused to leave. According to Jabrill, [the woman] fell by herself on the stairs because she was intoxicated. He denied pushing her down the stairs, and he said that she was making those allegations to destroy his career.”
Police also said they found a bag containing white powder in his wallet, which they claimed he said was cocaine.
Leaving court on Monday, Peppers’ attorney told reporters that they had evidence “that completely contradicts the alleged victim’s story” and that it was rather video “and other” evidence that they had.
The next hearing is scheduled to take place on Nov. 22, but Peppers’ presence is not being required, according to WCVB.
Peppers had signed with the Patriots back in 2022 and prior to that had spent three seasons with the Giants.
He was drafted in 2017 by the Browns with the 25th overall pick.
