As The Daily Hoosier reported last week, class of 2025 top-40 center Eric Reibe moved up his IU official visit two weeks to Sept. 20.
Today, On3’s Joe Tipton is reporting Reibe will now visit Oregon the weekend previously set for the IU visit, Oct. 4-6. That visit was moved up as well.
The 7-foot Reibe visited Kansas and UConn over the last two weekends. All of those visits were/will be full weekend official visits.
Meanwhile, Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers reported on Monday IU coach Mike Woodson will visit Reibe in person this week, along with Creighton, Oregon and Kansas. Reibe attends Bullis School in Potomac, Md.
Woodson was also on the road last week to see all of Indiana’s other main class of 2025 prospects — Braylon Mullins, Jalen Haralson, Trent Sisley, Bryson Tiller and Mikel Brown.
Reibe’s Sept. 20 visit to Bloomington coincides with visits to Indiana by Mullins and Sisley.
A native of Germany, Reibe’s recruitment appears to be down to Indiana, Kansas, UConn, Oregon and Creighton, although he has not formally announced those schools as his finalists. He recently cancelled visits to Kentucky and North Carolina.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Reibe is the No. 35 overall prospect in the 2025 class, and the No. 3 center.
All of the movement in Reibe’s schedule appears to be setting up for an October decision.
If predictions by national analysts are your thing, Rivals’ Rob Cassidy opined on Reibe’s recruitment on Monday.
Cassidy believe Kansas is the front-runner at the moment, but he isn’t counting out Indiana or UConn just yet. Here’s what he says about the Hoosiers and Huskies:
“Reibe visited UConn over the weekend, and it’s still too early to discern the returns on that trip,” Cassidy wrote. “Meanwhile, the four-star forward moved his visit to Indiana up from Oct. 4 to Sept. 20. The sudden movement suggests Reibe intends to expedite his recruiting process, but the Huskies and Hoosiers still have better than a puncher’s chance.
“Both programs should be seen as running behind the Jayhawks, but both also possess sizable NIL war chests and coaches with a history of putting players in the NBA Draft’s first-round.”
Cassidy says don’t count out Oregon just yet, and calls Creighton more of a longshot at this point.
