INDIANAPOLIS — Colts defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis is ready for this weekend’s showdown between No. 5 Indiana and No. 2 Ohio State.
Lewis, who played for the Buckeyes and won a national championship at Ohio State, has always been an outspoken fan of his Buckeyes, catching the wrong end of a bet with Oregon product DeForest Buckner and being forced to wear an Oregon Duck costume to a press conference earlier this season.
He knows he’s in Indiana country.
And when reporters asked him about the Hoosiers-Buckeyes showdown on Saturday, Lewis was ready.
“It’s only a big game because the Buckeyes are playing,” Lewis said. “That’s it.”
Lewis knows the history of Ohio State’s winning streak.
“It’s been 29 straight,” Lewis said. “About to be 30.”
Lewis kept the jokes rolling, taking a jab at Memorial Stadium’s crowds.
“The only time the stadium looks good is when they play Ohio State,” Lewis said.
Another reporter pointed out that a win over Indiana likely puts the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship game against Oregon, a rematch with Buckner’s Ducks.
“Don’t worry, we’ve got that Brutus suit,” Lewis said. “That’s all I’ve got to say about that one.”
