DOHA: An Israeli delegation will travel to Qatar on Thursday to discuss new demands for a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner-hostage exchange, western media reported.
According to AFP, the delegation would hold meeting with mediator Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani to exchange view on three Israeli requests, including control on the return of civilian population to northern Gaza, the source stated on condition of anonymity.
Qatar, along with the United States and Egypt, has been engaged in months of behind-the-scenes efforts to broker a Gaza ceasefire and a prisoner-hostage swap.
A proposed cessation of hostilities emphases on a phased approach, starting with an initial ceasefire. Recent talks have centered on a framework outlined by US President Biden in late May, which he said had been suggested by Israel.
