Is Target open on New Year’s Day 2025? Store hours, what to know

The new year has arrived, which for millions of Americans means setting resolutions to kick off 2025.
If you’re looking to start the year with some shopping you’re in luck, as most grocery, retail, and restaurant chains will remain open on New Year’s Day, albeit some with adjusted hours. Most businesses were open on New Year’s Eve.
If you need to make a shopping trip on Jan. 1, Target will be an option for you this year, as the company told USA TODAY their stores will be open regular hours on New Year’s Day. Target stores’ operating hours can vary by day and location, but many locations open at 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. Search for your location on Target’s store locator tool.
Locations were also open on New Year’s Eve, but were scheduled to close at 9 p.m. local time.

- Kohls; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- TJ Maxx; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Marshall’s; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- HomeGoods; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- JCPenney; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Nordstrom; Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Home Depot; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Lowe’s; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Ace Hardware (hours vary by location)
- REI; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Bass Pro Shop; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Cabela’s; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Burlington; Stores close at 10 p.m.
- Belk; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Big Lots; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sephora (hours vary by location; check the company’s store locator to find specific store hours)
- Staples (check hours using the Staples store locator)
- Office Depot; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- OfficeMax; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Publix; Select stores close at 7 p.m. while most others close at 8 p.m.
- Meijer; 6 a.m. to midnight
- Whole Foods; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Harris Teeter (but pharmacies will be closed)
