SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team has added three new members to the program who are set to join the team in fall 2025 in Sawyer Brockstedt, Taryn Cagle, and Jordan Levitt. The trio signed their Athletic Aid Agreement as part of National Signing Day, Wednesday.
Brockstedt is set to join the team from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where she has won three AJGA tournaments, boasts 15 top-10 AJGA finishes and was a co-medalist for the 2023 USGA Junior Girls Championship.
“I am so grateful and fortunate that I had many options to continue my golf career at the collegiate level, Brockstedt said. “It was important to me to find a university with a reputation for high academic standards, a golf team that could compete at the highest level, a supportive and caring coaching staff, and great team camaraderie. When I first visited the University of Notre Dame, the energy of the school and the entire community was different than what I had experienced at other schools. In addition to having a reputation as one of the leading universities in the country for academic excellence, I learned about the traditions of the university, the alumni support, and the vision for athletic department generally and for the men’s and women’s golf teams through the eyes of Athletic Director, Pete Bevacqua, Director of Golf John Handrigan, and through my interactions with Coach Caroline and Coach Kari. I admire and respect the golf program they have built, and I am excited for what lies ahead. Finally, I am thrilled to be joining a team with such great players. Although I am looking forward to finishing high school and enjoying my senior year, I could not be more excited to join the Irish family in the fall of 2025.”
Brockstedt recently qualified for the 2023 USGA Women’s Amateur and recorded top-10 finishes at the 2023 Dye Invitational and 2022 Buick Shanshan AJGA Girls Invitational. She’s twice been a member of the Delaware State High School Championship winning team and was a 2020 US Kids Teen World Champion.
“Sawyer knows how to win and brings extensive experience competing on the national stage,” Head Coach Caroline Powers Ellis said. “She is an amazing student, golfer, and person but what is most impressive is how she continues to seek out the more challenging path in everything she does order to continue to improve and grow.”
Cagle is a national champion golfer and two-time state champion out of San Clemente, California.
“Choosing Notre Dame was one of the easiest decisions I have had to make due to the combination of distinguished academics and outstanding athletics,” Cagle said. “The university and golf team have a distinct sense of unity and shared values that I’m so grateful to be able to join. Coach Caroline and Coach Kari have made me feel so supported and I’ve been inspired by their drive for excellence. I look forward to the many opportunities that Notre Dame will present for me in this journey and I’m honored to represent the Irish.”
A member of the California Scholarship Federation, she is a four-time scholar athlete award recipient and has spent countless hours in her community giving back.
“Taryn knows what it takes to be on an elite team and has experienced a lot of success in her junior career,” Powers Ellis said of the signee. “She has a high golf IQ, understands the process, and knows how to push herself and her teammates toward the common goal. She will be a great asset to our team on and off the golf course and we can’t wait for her to be in South Bend.”
Levitt rounds out the 2025 signing class from Bedford, New York and most recently earned the title of 2024 Northern Junior Champion. The 2024 New York State Junior Amateur Runner-Up and Women’s Amateur Runner-Up comes to South Bend after earning the championship of the Junior Division at the New York tournament. She was also the Metropolitan PGA Junior Champion in 2024.
“I chose Notre Dame because the school’s core values align with my own. I feel that this is the place where I will thrive both academically and athletically,” Levitt said. “The minute I stepped on campus and met Coach Caroline and Coach Kari it felt like home and I can’t wait to represent the Fighting Irish both on and off the course.”
She earned three top-three finishes in the AJGA 2023-24 season and was the 2023 New York State Junior Amateur and FJT Ocala Junior Open Champion.
“Jordan is one of the most determined players I have come across as a coach and is motivated to do whatever it takes to become great,” Powers Ellis said on Levitt. “She has the skills and mentality to achieve all of her individuals goals and help continue to push Irish Golf to new heights.”
