Last year as a sophomore, Ross went 47-0, including wins by fall over every opponent he faced at the state tournament in winning the 215-pound weight class. It was his second state title after winning the 195-pound weight class as a freshman. He is also undefeated this season.
Ross is also an outstanding football player, with offers from some Division 1 schools, although a shoulder injury he suffered wrestling late last summer forced him to miss his junior football season. He is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247 Sports.
Ross will be a strong favorite to repeat as the boys wrestler of the year at the 2024-25 Iowa High School Sports Awards, which are June 12 at the EMC Expo Center in Des Moines.
