On Tuesday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide entered their game with the Texas Longhorns needing a win to stay tied with the Auburn Tigers for first place in the SEC basketball standings, who had previously picked up a victory shortly before tipoff at the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Well, that is exactly in fact what happened for the Crimson Tide on Tuesday night, as Alabama cruised to a 103-80 road win over Texas.

In the game, it was simply never close between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns, as Alabama claimed an early lead, and would simply never look back on their way to a needed win. However, what were some of the driving factors in Alabama’s victory?

Alabama’s strong first half

Aside from nine turnovers committed, it was an impressive first half from Alabama on Tuesday night, as the Crimson Tide carried a commanding 49-31 lead into the break. A big reason behind this was the Crimson Tide’s shooting, as Alabama shot a combined 65.4% from the field, 58.3% from three (7-of-12), and 80% at the free throw line.

Alabama impresses from three-point range

As hinted at above, Alabama’s most impressive stat from Tuesday night was their shooting, in particular from three-point range. In all, Alabama shot 17-of-29 from three-point range, which translates to 58.6%.

Jarin Stevenson’s big game

Alabama was led Tuesday night by forward Jarin Stevenson, who finished with a team-high 22 points. Stevenson also shot 7-of-8 from the field, as well as 4-of-5 from three.

Alabama struggles with turnovers
