Indiana women’s basketball remains on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament after a split week of games.
The Hoosiers’ last-minute loss to Michigan kept them from a resume-building Quad 1 win, and even pushed them closer to a potential play-in game. ESPN’s bracketology currently has Indiana as the third team in the last four byes section behind Oregon and Minnesota, both teams Indiana has lost to, but ahead of Nebraska.
Each week, IndyStar will look at how IU fared the previous week, analyzing the Hoosiers’ potential March Madness resume.
Here’s how Indiana stacks up this week:
Here are the quad specifications for women’s basketball:

Quad 3: home 56-90, neutral 66-105, road 81-130
Quad 4: home 91-plus, neutral 106-plus, away 131-plus
NET rankings are not officially established until all games are played, so a team can move up or down based on results. That can also affect opponents’ quad records if a team moves in-between quads.

Feb. 12: 70-67 loss at Michigan (NET No. 24) — This was one of those prime opportunities for a Quad 1 win that slipped away from Indiana, which led going into the fourth quarter. Indiana allowed a 31-point fourth from Michigan, turning what could’ve been a resume3-boosting win into a demoralizing loss.
Feb. 15: 78-56 win vs. Purdue (NET No. 132) — With the Boilermakers coming in as a Quad 4 team, this win didn’t mean much resume-wise for the Hoosiers. It would have been a catastrophic loss for Indiana, but a 20-2 run to start the game allowed the Hoosiers to coast to a win for the Barn Burner Trophy.
Feb. 20: vs. Ohio State (NET No. 16) — It’s an opportunity for not only a Quad 1 win, but a signature victory for Indiana, but the Hoosiers will need to be disciplined on both ends of the floor to make that happen. Ohio State is a strong defensive team, with a full-court press as part of its normal strategy, and Indiana has struggled against that press in recent years.
Feb. 23: at Michigan State (NET. No. 21) — Yet another chance for the Hoosiers to improve their resume against a Quad 1 opponent. Michigan State took conference leader UCLA to the brink Sunday, cementing the Spartans’ position as a threat in the Big Ten. Julia Ayrault leads the Spartans with 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
