There are two new No. 1 teams this week in the USA TODAY Network Indiana high school football poll.
Plainfield (3-0) jumped four spots to No. 1 in a jumbled Class 5A, where five teams received votes for the top spot. The Quakers dominated Mooresville 42-0 on Friday night and also own victories over 5A Terre Haute South and 6A Harrison (West Lafayette). Valparaiso (2-1) received seven first-place votes in 5A, the most of any team, and are in second place just two points behind Plainfield. Merrillville (2-1) dropped from No. 1 to 3 after a 46-13 loss to 6A No. 3 Crown Point.
There is also a new No. 1 in Class 2A, where Lafayette Central Catholic (2-0) climbed to the top spot after a 23-21 win over Logansport. Lutheran (2-1) dropped from No. 1 to 5 after its 45-game winning streak was snapped in a 16-13 loss to now fourth-ranked Triton Central.
